Due to COVID, Jr. Hornets has been postponed until after Christmas. In January the current situation will be evaluated to determine if Jr. Hornets will be able to play this year.

Digital Learning Academy Quarter 2 Enrollment is open until 12:00 Noon today. Any student that wants to participate in the Academy for Quarter 2 must register by 12:00 Noon. Sunday, 10/4/2020 at a special called School Board meeting, the board voted unanimously to continue the full Friday planning sessions. They plan to revisit this issue during the December board meeting.

Digital Learning Academy 2nd Quarter open enrollment will be October 2-12, 2020. Parents, our final day for the cookie dough fundraiser has been extended to October 19. Please continue to share your child's personal link with family and friends. Good afternoon Parents, This week we kicked off our annual cookie dough fundraiser! This year all orders will be placed online. This means no door to door sales or order forms and money to keep up with. Parent letters were sent home this week with important information on how to set up your child’s account and more. We have posted a video on the school page that shows all the cool prizes!! Also, don’t forget, for every three items your child sells , they get a surprise hedgehog! Just make sure to send the ticket found on the back of the parent letter to school!! We are so excited about this awesome fundraiser!!

USDA has released COVID-19 flexibilities to allow ALL children 18 years and under to receive free breakfast and lunch through the school meal program. This decision will help ensure children have access to nutritious meals as the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. The new flexibility is effective September 1, 2020, and will extend through December 31, 2020. Check out the News section for more information!

Due to work on a gas line in front of SGCMS part of Middle school road is closed. Dismissal for SGC Elementary School will be at the same time. Because of the work, the only access to the high school and middle school will be beside Mt. Zion Church or the East End of Middle School Road. So please make those adjustments if you need to pick up a student at the Middle or High School. Again, SGC Elementary School dismissal will remain at the same time as always.

SGCHS Hornet Football Info: This season, all fans will be required to have a temperature check at the gate. Those with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be permitted to enter. Masks will also be required for entry and while inside of the stadium or field. Fans are also expected to practice social distancing in the stands, as well as the area around the field. Child play in the areas around the field will not be permitted, in order to maintain social distancing. No outside food or drink is allowed. This season, all sales of individual game tickets for athletic events will be done digitally. Fans wishing to buy tickets will need to go to www.gofan.co/app/school/TN51104 and locate the event for which they want to purchase tickets. Once the tickets are purchased, fans will simply present their tickets on their smartphone at the ticket gate the day of the event, where it will be validated by a gate worker. Detailed instructions for using the GoFan system can be found at www.gofan.co. Fans can also download the GoFan app on their smartphone. Digital tickets for home varsity football games will not be available for purchase until Monday at 12:00 pm the week of the game. Tickets for all other events can be purchased at any time. No tickets will be sold or cash accepted at the gate. Concessions at the game will be limited to drinks, candy, and prepackaged items only. Cash will still be accepted for concessions. South Gibson County Elementary School will offer meal delivery / pick-up to enrolled students during the off-campus learning period on Fridays only starting this Friday until October 16, 2020. Thank you for a great first week of learning for all students at GCSSD. Due to the number of COVID-19 cases not declining as rapidly as we had hoped, we are adjusting enrollment for the Digital Learning Academy. Enrollment for the Digital Learning Academy will always remain open allowing a student to transition into the Academy at any time. If you would like to transition your student to the Academy, email the Director of Schools, Eddie Pruett (epruett@gcssd.org) with the required information below. Once approved, your student will continue in-person instruction until the student’s teacher or principal alerts them that it is time to transition. From that point forward, the student will remain as a Digital Learning Academy student for the remainder of the 9 weeks. All Digital Learning Academy students will re-register each 9 weeks. As a reminder, GCSSD feels that on-campus learning is best for all students but we understand that you, as a guardian, know which learning environment is best for your student and family. If you choose to transition your student, you must: - Have reliable internet connection. - Your own personal device (with keyboard). - Email Eddie Pruett at epruett@gcssd.org with the student name, grade, and school.

In an effort to make Schoology sign-in more user friendly, I have updated the log-in process while Schoology was down this afternoon. Students will utilize their GCSSD username (NOT the full email) and their GCSSD password to log in to Schoology from this point forward. This change will allow multiple users to log in to one computer much easier as the log-in credentials will not be saved.
